Lake Garda

A perl in the heart of north Italy

History

It is Italy’s biggest lake of the Pre-Alps and it was created by the glaciers modelling in the Quaternary Period. As it has ancient origins, this lake has been being frequented from the prehistory and it continues to be an important resource for the local people.

Local Products

The Lake Garda offers a lot of local products, such as a the extra virgin olive oil DOP, wines like Bardolino, Custoza and Lugana, tortellini di Valeggio sul Mincio (home-made egg pasta filled with meat, the trufle of Monte Baldo, the chestnuts of San Zeno di Montagna and the local fish. The local fish is also used to cook typical dishes like the risotto con la tinca.
